The scene opens with the dead body of a man lying on the ground. It is believed that the man's death was the result of a gunshot wound to the chest. The dead man was a friend of Ilie's, and Ilie has known him for about ten years. Ilie asks the dead man if he was on his way to see him, and the man replies that he was, but that he did not want to see Ilie until he saw her. He tells Ilie that he is an exterminator, and that he has a preference for exterminators from the east. When Ilie tells him that she is afraid of the insects, he tells her that many of them cower before him, afraid to face them. He says that Ilie is not human, but he is a predator, and he kills people when they become cagaster. He also says that after the death of a person, people lose their sense of reason, and they turn into bugs within 20 minutes. The scene ends with Ilie lying on her stomach, shocked by the sight of her dead friend. She asks him to give her five minutes to rest.
