The chapter opens with a description of the snow lotus valley, which is described as a "natural maze" and a "poison fog" . The narrator explains that the valley is surrounded by poisonous fog and that it is impossible to enter without understanding it. He goes on to say that he has been in the deepest part of the valley for a while and that the fog is getting "thicker and thicker" making it harder for him to see. Finally, he reaches the end of the forest. He sees a huge tree, which seems to have a heartbeat. He realizes that the tree is like a "mini world" and that he can even raise his cultivation to the second level of the "olden" realm. He takes a look at the corpse pond and realizes that it has been used to raise "demonic beasts" with the "lives of cultivators" and ancient trees. He thinks that it must be the "egg of the starry-sky soul-devoursing beast" and wonders if he could possibly surpass his ancestors.
