This chapter opens with a flashback to a time before the events of the novel took place. It is a time when the narrator was a young girl who had lost everything she had ever known. She had vowed to become a reaper, but she had fallen in love with a knight and was now living happily ever after. She tells the knight that she wants to visit her mothers grave and that she would like to see people she knows. The knight is kind to her, and she thanks him for his kind words. He tells her that if she ever needs help, he will be there for her. She asks him not to tell her that he is a magical being, because she is an ass. He says that he will protect her even if she does not tell him. She says that she already has an inclination towards the knight, but that she is upset coming from the magical being. He asks her to take care of her leah, even without him telling her to. She replies that she will protect him even if he tells her not to. He then tells her to come back to his side.
