This chapter opens with a description of a girl who has lost everything in her vow to the reaper. She tells Fagin that she wants to get to know him better. She wants to know why he always does whatever he wants. She also tells him that she heard people coming from the side of the river from the town where the monster is worshipped. She asks Fagin to hurry along and find out what's going on.
