In this chapter, we are introduced to a young girl who has lost all her vows to the reaper. She is a flap, a magical creature, who has fallen from a tall tower. She tells us that she is a witch, not a princess, and that she does not want to be burned at the stake. She says that if a knight were to decapitate her, it would be more appropriate for her to fall to her death than for a witch to be decapitated by a knight. She also says that even if she tried to interact with a magical being, she would be like a person who has been loved by the devil or by a loved one. The flap says that she would like to be taken down to the devil's dungeon, but she knows that she will not be able to do so because she is an ally of the devil and magical beings.
