In this short scene, the monster tells Leah that he is responsible for everything that has happened to her. He tells her that he loves her and wishes that she were dead. Leah tells the monster that she is not a poor thing because she was "swallowed" by her own hate. She tells him that even though she was killed by the monster, she never thought that the monster was responsible for her death. She says that she too was waiting for the monster to kill her. The monster says that if Leah were to live in this world, she would be happy.
