The next morning, Proteus arrives at the school to find the headmaster and the other students all dressed up in masks and costumes. He asks the headmaster why they are all so dressed up, and the headmaster tells him that it's because they're afraid of being recognized. The headmaster says that he doesn't want to upset the students, but he does want to make sure that everyone knows that he's the one who's dressed up like this. The other students are shocked, but the headmaster says they'll just have to deal with it. He tells the headmaster to go home and explain everything to the students.
