In this chapter, we learn that the old refinery is 200 miles away from Roxane's laboratory, and that it has been haunting Roxane for thirty years. Alan tells Thomas that he would like to meet Roxane one last time. He says that if he didn't have to go to New York by himself with the old wreck, he'd be fine. He also tells him that they're going to build a "fucking monument" for him and Roxane. Thomas says that he's in love with a beautiful woman named marcus, and they can talk inside the bunker. They're not sure what to do now, but they'll be back in a year.
