When dragons cry, the story opens with a flashback to a time before the invention of the sword. It is the story of a young girl who has been orphaned by her mother, who has died. She has been raised by her father, who loves her, but he has been unable to provide for her. The girl's father has been a thief, and she has revealed his identity to her father.
