About This Chapter
In this chapter, Agamemnon explains to his daughter, Roxane, why he has chosen to destroy the kingdom of Sazuma. He tells her that he has been fighting against a destiny all his life, and that she has earned it by fighting against her own shadow. He asks her to take him to the king of the nether kingdom, who will give him the answer to the riddle of his life. He explains that since the people of Sanzuma fought against dragons, no soul has been able to answer the riddle. Only a dragon can answer the question of a dragon, and only a dragon will know the answer. The dragons were once humans, like the two of them, and they learned to be dragons. He reminds her that they have not been together since her mother's death. He says that he will eat her when he dies, but that they will not fly together since his mother died. He adds that his father has been feeding the dragons with his prophecies, and he says that his mother could not have imagined a world without the power and strength of the green-blood dragon. She could not imagine the world without a powerful and weak dragon, the "destined and lesser-fated" dragon.
