He has been living in the country of the baron, stonesaddle, since he was a child, and he is now very sick. He finds the plague ministry's list of people who have been killed by the plague, and decides that the plague was caused by a woman named relda, who killed a man named khorre. He also learns that the children who killed the man are planning to kill him and his granddaughter, and that he has picked up some weapons from the ogres that he killed back at the tavern. He tells his granddaughter that he will punish anyone who kills him.
