About This Chapter
As the sun sets, the narrator tells Barbarella that he can't go to the city because of the storm. He asks her not to be foolish and carry the bag with him. He tells her that he'll show her the way. He's going to have a drink with her, and then he asks her to pose for him. She says she's not dreaming, but she'll have to wait another six hours before they reach the little girl. The fog is coming up, and the narrator says he's worried about being separated from her. He wants to find his friends, and he wants to warn them about the second fog. He also wants to know what's up with the great phouille. She's coming from the old people, and they're asking for him, but he doesn't know what to say. The administration of great pouille is derelict, he says, because it's been pillaged by other time and space. The old people are asking for his help, but the new ones are asking him for help. The narrator wants to hear the story of the battle between the old universe and the new universe, so he asks the old ones to tell him the story.
