About This Chapter
Barbarella tells the Queen that they're running out of gas and that she's losing altitude. He tells her that he's survived all kinds of horrible things in his life, including the pirates and the medusa. He's now his own man, and he wants to escape. He wants to find a way out, but he can't figure out a way to get there. He asks the Queen if there's any way out. The Queen says that there is, but she doesn't know what's going on. She's got three people on the squaplane, and one of them has run away. The other two have also run away, but they'll be back soon enough. They decide to hurry up and help the Queen, even if it means risking their own lives. They don't want to be seen as cowards, so they ask the Queen to let them in. She says that's what she does, and they should hurry up. She asks who the other two are, and the Queen says it's not her, but a pretty girl. She also says that the Queen has separated her from the pretty girl, and that the two of them are separated from each other. She wants to know how the Queen can bear this kind of ruckus, since no one can actually rebel against her authority, and since the Queen's taste is for dramatics, she wants to stage a play. She tells him that he should take his pistol and join the ranks of the rebels, because this meal might be his last. He begs the Queen for one more request, and she says she'll confirm it.
