In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist, Nemo, is on his way to school in order to catch a glimpse of the girl he's supposed to meet. He's so excited about the prospect of meeting a girl that he doesn't even notice that she's wearing toast in her running to school. Instead, he thinks, she'll be wearing a fish cake, which is basically a dried fish that's stuck in her mouth. Nemo is all, "Gee, that sounds like a good idea, but I'm not going to share it with you." He'll just eat the fish cake as he runs to school, and he'll never meet a girl who's not wearing toast. Nemo's got a theory: if he runs around with a fish in his mouth, the only people he will run into will be a housewife chasing after him, and the only person who will actually be interested in him is a man who has a piece of fish cake in his hand. The fish cake is the only thing that will make him run away from the girl, and it's right around the corner of the school where Nemo is supposed to be meeting her. Nemo and the girl argue about whether or not the girl is actually going to meet Nemo, and Nemo points out that this is an "all girls' school" .
