About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the "chitama stone" , which is a symbol of good deeds. The chitama stone is supposed to indicate that a person has done a good deed, but it is not clear whether this person has actually done good deeds or not. When a person does good deeds, he or she gets more good deed points than if the person had done something bad. When taro sees the chima stone, he wants to do good deeds immediately, but the counter is still not up to date, so he has to wait until the next day to do so. When he returns home, he finds that his textbook has been dropped into the river. He asks his mom why he was out so late, and she tells him that she is worried about him being mad at her, but he tells her that his text book was an "acci dent" . She tells him to tell her mom, and the two of them go back to school.
