The next morning, Ming decides to take the train to his new house, but he's not sure he'll be able to get there in time. He's worried that he won't make it to the new house on time, so he stops at the cross to thank the driver for taking him there. Ming asks the driver to take him to the bank, but the driver says he can't because he has to go to work. Ming tells the driver that he has some rotten apples to sell, and Ming promises to give him a 10 yuan discount. Ming then tells Ming that he hasn't seen Ming in a while, so Ming tells him not to worry about the money. Ming gives Ming a pair of his grandson's new clothes to try on, and the old woman gives Ming 20000 yuan for late payment of her rent for the past three years. Ming thanks the old lady for all she's done for him and his family, and he doesn't know whether or not he can see her again. The old woman tells Ming to pay her back now, because she has to borrow money from her sister and brother-in-law to pay for the surgery Ming's sister accidentally fell from the top of the tower and needs. Ming says he has no choice, since the interest on the loan has been multiplied, and they'll pay him back, even if they sell their house. Ming promises that he will buy the house back and send his sister abroad to get the surgery done. He also promises to take care of Ming and his mom, since he promised to do so.
