About This Chapter
The ladies' clinic director, Fusako, tells Hibiki, the doctor's assistant, that she's pregnant, and that she should come to the country room three to see if she can find out what's wrong with the baby. The doctor, however, doesn't have a clue about the baby's gender, and he's worried that Hibiko is pregnant. Hibika says that she didn't even know that the baby was a girl, and the doctor is shocked that she would be pregnant with a man like that. She's also worried that he'll be a bad influence on the baby, and she'll have to leave the country immediately. The women's editor, Mami, comes in and thanks Hibike for her work on the manuscript. Mami says she'd like to continue working on her manuscript, but she can't because of her period. Mami thinks that men shouldn't treat women with as much care as they treat their hairy counterparts, but Mami points out that hairy guys are more romantic than men who are more feminine. Mami tells him that he should try to write more love stories, because he has too much of a crush on women. Mami also tells him to stop worrying about his pregnancy, and to stop sleeping with all the other women in his life. Mami is shocked by Hibekka's apology, and says that it's enough to keep her from worrying about her pregnancy.
