About This Chapter
One year later, the gutter rat shows up at the temple. He's wearing nothing but a wet rat's clothes. He says that he's going to die soon. The gutter rat explains that he was born without a name. He had no idea what he was doing or where he came from. The moment he realized that his name was "Gutter rat," he killed his sister. He didn't know what to do with himself, he says, so he killed both of his parents. He doesn't explain why he did it, but he does say that it's up to the reader to decide whether or not to believe what he says. If you want absolute proof, he explains, then you can just wander around the world until your life ends. However, if you want proof that this is the man's final wish, then he'll just give it to you. In other words, he wants you to believe that he wanted you to give him a name and that you wanted him to kill his parents as well. If that's the first wish, he'd like you to do it. But what was the second wish? That's why, when he heard this, he named him "Keiz" . When he heard that, he muffled his voice, cried, and said, "You are not stupid, you are not a fool, you died for that asshole." He'd never forgive the man for what he did. He also says that, even if he could kill him, he wouldn't do it, because he would never do such a thing.
