The chapter opens with a description of the "rogue samurai" , who is wandering aimlessly. He wishes someone would give him a "ryo" for every time he goes on a walk. He tells the shop owner that he messed up his shop and that his arm is gone. The shop owner tells him that there is a "100-ryo reward" for the head of the man who beheaded him. The man whose head was beheaded is named "Matsuz" and he dies three days later. The other man who vowed never to associate with the "100" man is also named "Bunpel" . The chapter ends with the story of Tokugawa Ieyoshi, who was ill at the end of his shogunship. The excuse of a "ronin" is not enough to explain his illness.
