About This Chapter
As he wanders along the seashore, Maecenas stays behind them and crosses several mountains. He has become accustomed to wandering, and rarely thinks of Miss y or Kenjir. He says that he does not need to hide because none of them look back, and that he would like to take out four people, but that he must still be guarded. He asks the fishermen why they do not stay for the night, and they reply that they have been sleeping outside all this time, so why not stay tonight. He tells them that he wants all of it, but he doesn't understand it himself, and he says he will make sure that they forget that he even saw him. He goes on to say that if he draws his sword on Kanichi, he will win, but someone like him does not even have the chance of winning. He adds that he knows that he will be waiting for a boat when he reaches the river, but there is one thing he does know, and it is that there is a snake in the water. He wonders if the snake has left her mind, and she replies that she has no such thing. He then says he is in a bad mood, and wakes up early in the morning with a baby turtle.
