The chapter opens with the narrator explaining that he has gone abroad for school checkout and that he cannot leave without discussing the matter with his aunt and uncle. He tells them that he found the ribbon in Mangmang's room and that she has not yet boarded the plane to Russia. He asks if they have to report the matter to their family members, but they refuse to do so. The narrator then tells the brothers that he will not do anything to harm Mangmangg because of him. He says that if it werent for him coming on time yesterday, she might have been dead. He then tells them to stop wasting their time in front of the gate and not to meet her because the plane is soon to take off. He also says that the ribbon is her favorite in high school and that every scar is brought on it by him. The brothers refuse to help him and he tells him that they have never been able to be friends with him because he knows that they did not deserve to stand on her side. He goes on to say that he had been drugged and he has to go back to get his project done.
