About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that when he was young, he found drawing enjoyable. He says that he persisted over ten years for it to have begun to bind his life. He tells the liu that he does not want to see her, and that he just wants to escape from the world that rejects him. The liu tells him that he can get what he wants, but that he is a rotten person. He asks if they could forgive him by jumping, and he says that if he did not jump, he would be criticised for it again. He adds that he has already been misunderstood, and neither of them owe each other any money. He then asks if it is okay to throw away all the things in his makeup bag, since they are useless anyway. He compares himself to a "rotten person" who throws away all his belongings out of spite. He explains that he said a lot of strange things and even threatened to commit suicide, but he says he was not going to do it. Then he asks why he is not there to take him away, and she says that she is going to fall. She tells him to hurry up and pull her up, because she is not as easy as she is to appease. The narrator says that in this period, he has never done anything wrong to harm her. He wonders if he thinks there is a true culprit, because when a bully moves, the victim becomes weak. She is being bullied anyway, so she will not be able to resist. He concludes that she has been saved.
