In this chapter, we learn that the two young men are in the process of gathering clues regarding the whereabouts of the guardian. The first man is super-fast, and the second man is very slow. He tells the first man to think of the clues he has regarding the guardian, and not to worry about the dirty work. The second man thinks about the day he first came to the academy, and wonders if there are any other clues. He thinks that the day was messy, and that the result will be attributed to a "accident." The second men are supposed to be the ones who lead the way for the guardians to return to the afterlife, and they are not supposed to die with the guardians, but to follow their souls and return to heaven.
