About This Chapter
In this short scene, Phillip tries to calm down the monk, who is agitated and confused by the events of the previous day. The monk explains that he came to investigate a loud noise and found that his disciple, Ench, had passed out. He asks the monk if he is okay, and the monk replies that he is. He also asks if the royal guard who was supposed to be with the crown prince is there, and he wonders if he was put under surveillance. When the monk asks if he can help him, the monk responds that he made an "unforgivable mistake" and that the guard is doubting him. He tells the monk not to get involved in his business any further, and then asks the king's name. The king tells him that he wants to test the magic again. He says that he wanted to do it one more time, and that he doesn't need to hesitate. He then asks if there is a limit to the amount of time that the stone can be turned into "bits and pieces." The monk wonders if it is a normal summoning power, or if the person who has been switched has been injured. He wonders if the sound of the explosion is safe, and asks if they can wait for him to come back and check on them. The prince says that they are here because they heard the noise of explosion. He adds that if he could, he would rather tell the monk to wait since they don't yet know if the magic is safe. He wants to go in, but the monk says that it seems important to him, so they should go together. When he finds that some strangers have passed out, he realizes that the monk is suspicious of him and this situation, and tells him to wake up.
