In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, a young woman named Olivia, who has just returned from a trip to the Hawaiian islands. Olivia's father has died, and her brother has also died. Olivia is shocked to learn that her father's death was an unjust one, but her brother's was not. Olivia asks her brother why his death was unjust, and his response is that it is up to the individual to decide whether or not a death is unjust.
