About This Chapter
The next day at work, the young man tries to convince himself that he's a better candidate for the job than the other applicants. He's confident that he can do a better job than anyone else at the company, and he wants to prove it. He wants to know why he failed, but he doesn't know how to express his frustration in front of the company's senior vice president. He asks if he looked in the mirror before his performance, hoping that it would make his resume more attractive to the company. He hopes that if he is chosen, he will be able to kill the company president one day. He buys some food to make sure that he isn't hungry before he leaves. The young man is relieved that he has to leave the company so quickly, because it feels like a "sphynxing time" . He wonders if he should have been more attentive to the senior's needs when he first met her, and then he asks if she's the one who's been taking care of her lately. He says that she is the problem, and if she is going to regret something, she should just let it go.
