At the beginning of the next chapter, Vangs tells Sparkle that they've reached their goal. He asks Sparkle if he's seen him, and Sparkle tells him that he hasn't. Then he asks Sparkle to tell him about human town. Sparkle tells Vangs about a festival that's going on in the city, and Vangs is excited. He tells Sparkle about the festival, which involves food, dancing, and a big bonfire at the end. Vangs wants to buy a big cake, but Sparkle says that it's too big for him, so he'll have to eat something else. Then Vangs says that his father is sick, and he wants to go to the festival to pray for him.
