The scene opens with a soliloquy by the "kingproductions" . The king praises the young man for refusing to run away. He tells him that if he wants to admit defeat, he will let him live. The young man thanks the king for giving him the chance to prepare himself for life as a prince and a future king. He says that he has a bad feeling that he meets a dragon art and story, and he clenches his clank crack. He knows that he is a weakling and that he should know his place and become a slave
