In this short scene, we are introduced to Soekidin, who has just returned home from his first day of class. He has been scratched on the cheek by a cat, and he is worried that he will have to take a second remedial exam to pass the test. He tells us that he has heard from many of his classmates that they have come to see him, but that he must do his best to make sure his grades are as good as his friend's. He is also worried about how he will perform on the test, as he has not studied as hard as he usually does. When he finally gets home, he tells his mom that he is fine and that he likes his friend, but he wishes he could be smarter.
