In this chapter, we learn that Dr. Barlow was the one who supplied the gear that was used to bust the two of them out of the dungeon. He also had knowledge of the entire security system, which would have allowed him to figure out how to get the two out of there. The only thing he didn't know about the whole thing was that he was going to open the gate to let the illusion Valley mascots in. He didn1t even know that the plan was to let them in, but he did it because his friend asked him to because he needed his help. He doesn1t want to become a part of the illusion valley, he says, because it would be like giving a woman a cigarette. He tells her that he will not give her a cigarette, even though he would have liked to think so. She looks like she regrets saying it, but the fact is that she had actually believed it. They broke up shortly after that, and now she is rescuing him one last time. He asks her to take care of herself, because she never saw him again.
