In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character named "Sangkuriang," who is a warrior who has learned to use his powers of the gab to defeat enemies. He is also known as a "vagabond," or a "wandering man." He has been traveling the world for a long time, and one day, he runs into a beautiful woman meditating. She reminds him of his mother, and he falls in love with her. The woman agrees to marry him only if he can build a boat and a lake before dawn the next day. The next day, the boat and the lake are nearly complete, but suddenly, the rooster crows after the woman, and she tries to chase after him. The rooster is curious as to what the woman is trying to trick him with. But then, the woman suddenly transforms the boat into a mountain. This is the legend of the warrior, who says that he will win the battle of the legends so that the woman will not chase after the rooster, and so that she will not make the rooster and the goblins chase after her. When he hears that a crowd has gathered, he rushes out to find them.
