Back at the tomb, Proteus asks for directions. He wants to tell his mom that he's glad he was born, but that maybe it took him too long to get there. He's sure his mom will hear him, but he still doesn't remember a lot of what happened. He says he was wearing a raincoat with a hood over his ears and tail when he first came to the tomb 12 years ago. He was having a good time, but his hood got caught, and they can see one another again. He promises to have a birthday party for everyone, since the point of the party is to fully experience life as an animal. He tells his companions to hurry up and eat, since they forgot to look at one another. They're hungry, but they're still able to see each other.
