About This Chapter
In the midst of the chaos at the festival, Doctor Livesey asks the crowd if they would like him and his men to kill their loved ones. The crowd replies that they would rather kill their own loved ones than be killed by the "bastards" in the crowd. The doctor replies that he and the others cannot enter the arena because the shutters are closed or the bastards are waiting. He says that they are simply filling their duties and that they will have to leave the arena on their own. He sees that the infected are concentrated in the arena and wonders what their next steps should be. He wishes that they had been able to capture the founder earlier. He feels that he should have left the arena earlier and gone to the other side to help the infected. He is so angry that he decides to go check out his instincts.
