In this chapter, we learn that Milady has a crush on Harker, and that Harker has run away from her. Milady is horrified, and she begs Milady to help her escape, but Milady refuses, saying that she is too weak to do so. She tells Milady that she must leave immediately, and Milady agrees, saying, "it's already ten o'clock." Milady wonders aloud why Milady did not come after her and Harker when they ran away. She realizes that she cannot figure out why they did not run after her or Harker while she was unconscious, and so she mutters to herself, "um, the right moment, to tell you" . She then asks Milady if she is feeling well, and when Milady says she is, Milady tells her that she has been hit by an "out-of-control car" on her way home.
