The narrator tells us that he's had enough. He's sorry that he wasn't the man he was supposed to be with. He asks Tanabe how long she's been there, and she tells him that she has been there for a while. The narrator says that she saw it all as plain as the day before, and that he never told her that he was marrying a woman. She's shocked that he didn't tell her that they were getting married, because she loved him so much. Tanabe says that it's awful that he would want to continue his relationship with her, even though she is a woman, because that would mean he'd be breaking his promise to her. He says that they're both "broken hearted," and that they need to get together for a drink. He tells Tanabe that he hasn't been to the sales party that night, because he was "gobbling about romance lately" . He also says that he doesn't want to fall in love with anyone, because "it's great" that he has no experience with men, because then he'll be useless to anyone. He adds that if she is not easy, she'll always be able to love him.
