This chapter opens with a conversation between a young man and an older woman. The young man asks the older woman if she would like to work for him after he graduates from university. The older woman says she would, and the young man says he would be happy to do so. He tells her that he has been working for the company for the past year and a half, and that he plans to move to a branch in the city of Fukuoka. The woman says that she will not be able to go because the company is short on staff, but that she can find someone else to take over the duties of the serial. She says she will go to the director and ask him to allow her to work there. He says that he will consult with the director before moving to the new branch. The younger man says that if he does not go, the company will transfer him to another branch.
