In this chapter, the young narrator tries to avoid the subject of his meeting with his ex-boyfriend, whom he has just met. He tries to find a way to avoid looking at the man's face, but he is unable to find any way to do so. He asks the pant pant to help him with the summary of what has happened. The pant pant tells him that he has a previous engagement and that he can't stay at the side of his former lover if he fails again. He also tells him about the strained back of the man he just met, and asks him if he could go cover the story instead of doing it himself. He says that he did not ask him to do it, but that he came to the job because he wanted to be a comic writer. He explains that he is being coveted by "a cheeky brat author" , who wants him to be the youngest comic writer in the world.
