The narrator tells us that the first time he met Mr. Roberts, he was a child staying with his parents at a "luxurious hotel" . He asks the narrator to wait for him to stop crying. The narrator thanks the narrator for his assistance during their last stay at the hotel. He tells the narrator that he is now employed as a "callboy" at the same hotel and that he hopes to one day become like Roberts. He is surprised to find that a woman has forgotten his bag, but the narrator says that she is usually collected by the hotel's callboy.
