The novel opens with a soliloquy in which the protagonist complains that he's been taught a lesson about love. He's about to give a speech about love when suddenly he feels a "kiss dazed" and a "puppet shudder tremble" . This is the kind of thing you'd expect from a guy who's just had sex with another guy. The protagonist, however, doesn't seem to be having any of this. He says that the kiss is "so embarrass ing" , and that it turns him on. He tells the protagonist not to "do things like selling his body out just on impulse well then, please return back home safely." The protagonist says that he didn't find the kiss disgusting at all, but he does think it's a discovery that someone else has done it to him. He promises the protagonist that he will be counting on him for a month.
