In this short scene, Ching-ying tries to convince Gui-ping that he has nothing to worry about. He tells her that she is the one who is mad at him, and that she can ask him no matter what. He says that he went to find out who was talking behind her back, and found that she was not an outsider, but was only talking with two people who were still discussing what was going on. The rumors were just step one, he says, and they were going to be step two, but before he could find it, he was chased and bitten by dogs. He promises to arrange for two bodyguards to be sent for her, and he says he's done talking with the family, and will go to bed.
