In this chapter, we are introduced to a number of new characters, each of whom are introduced for the first time in the novel. The first person introduced is the leader of the Underground Railroad. He is, in fact, a member of the underground, and he is the one who decides what to do with his men. He tells them that he wants them to find out what is wrong with them, and in return, they will tell him about any abnormal changes to their bodies. The Underground Railroad's leader, however, is not interested in this deal. He wants to know what is going on with the women in his life. He asks one of the women to tell him what she thinks.
