The ghost gives a long speech and plays loud music. He also says that he feels sorry for the boy and that his parents are inhuman. The boy thanks the nurse for giving him the gift of an apple. He tells her that it is his first birthday since they met and he will ask her to give him a gift. The nurse tells him that his mother has made an appointment to see the doctor and he cannot change the time he needs to remove the gift. He decides to give the gift to the nurse. The reporter agrees to interview him at noon on the following day. After an hour, the boy tells the reporter that he is just "a little confused" because he realizes that both the ghost and the friends he has met are building a fairy-tale city. The people he is looking for, including his parents, are not living in that city. He advises the boy to forget about his parents and write the story himself. The time is limited, he tells the boy, and he must remember to imagine a scene in which he is with his parents. He says that every time he thinks about it, he has more courage to leave the fairy tale.
