About This Chapter
The wolf tells the story of a baby wolf who was killed by another wolf. The wolf says that he killed himself because he heard that the wolves were going to expel one of the wolves. He says that the wolf is a suicide, because heaven punishes suicide, and heaven doesn't punish suicides because heaven isn't the sanctuary of the good. He asks the wolves why they don't defend suicides now, and he says that if one day the wolf kills someone else, what's the guarantee of their safety? He asks if the gods are going to abandon the wolves' belief in the good of the world. The wolves shout, "Go to hell, go to hell! Go to hell!" and the wolf says, "I'm here! I'm going to hell." The wolves yell, "The black dog virus! It will kill us! banish him!" The wolf asks, "Why did the wolf get kicked out? Why did he have to explain all the time that he didn't do anything wrong instead of being warned that he was doing something wrong? The wolves say, "It's not like they were even better than the virus." The wolf wants to die, he says, and a lonely rabbit finds him.
