The scene opens in a restaurant, where a group of young people have gathered to celebrate the end of the school year. The group is led by a boy, who introduces himself as "flicker." He is a good friend of the boy's, and the boy tries to cheer him up by making fun of the fact that his friend is a "high schooler" . The boy, however, is not joking; he is trying to cheer up his friend, who is "troubled" by the attention he is receiving from the other girls. He tries to comfort his friend by saying that he will "talk to" him "tomor row" , but the boy will not listen to him.
