The dog spirit tells the narrator that he has been separated from the body of ikoma because he gave him a name. The narrator says that one of the bodyless corpses was not made by the dog spirit, but by an umbrella seller. The umbrella seller was the murderer, the narrator says, and the body was thrown away.
