About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a conversation between the protagonist and a customer. The protagonist tells the customer that he's sorry he couldn't get to pick up earlier in the chapter. He's just been with a customer, and the customer tells him that his aunt has hurt herself and is going to be in a care home soon. The customer tells the protagonist that his parents are getting along, but that they need to find a new home for their dog, who's been living with them since he was a puppy. The dog is four years old, so the protagonist says he'll call him "rub pin - pin" . He also tells the story of how his aunt was looking for a place to care for her dog, and how she had to learn to speak the language and learn to eat the food. He says he can't imagine how much energy her parents still have, since they don't even have a dog. He adds that their condo doesn't allow pets, so they have to find someone else to take care of the dog, even though they're not allowed to own a pet. This is all the protagonist's fault for yelling at the customer, since he'd be happy to have the dog with him. He tells her that the dog needs to be walked every day, and that she needs to find another family for him, since she'll have to go back to work after she leaves the care home. She tells him to shake the dog's hand, because she's going to have a late shift tonight, and she won't have him back until the next day. She also tells him not to think about keeping the dog for two seconds, since it would be nice to
