In this short scene, Roxane tries to convince Rosalind that she should go on a quest for love in another world. She tells Rosalind that if she does, she will never be reborn. Rosalind replies that she has a point, but that "nothing comes easy" in the world of love. Rosalind tells Roxane that she can feel the power of love within her, but she must choose between Rosalind and Roxane. Rosalind is afraid that she will be swept away by herself, and so she decides to "protect" herself by pelting Roxane and Rosalind with pebbles. Rosalind, however, is not so sure. She feels that she must "walk a new path" and that she is the only one who can help her. Rosalind says that she hates both of them, and she feels sorry for letting them both go. Rosalind admits that she did not mean to let them go, because she thought they were going to get "swamped up and die" in this new world. Rosalind realizes that the more she lies, the more people swallow her.
