This chapter's epigraph comes from the opening lines of Gulliver's Travels, in which he tells the reader that he has come to replace the master of ceremonies at the wedding of a local villager. He asks Gulliver to help him in his mission, and Gulliver tells him that he is here to replace an older brother in the ceremony. He also tells Gulliver that he wants to participate in the festival that is to take place at the same time. Gulliver tells the boy that he does not know if he is telling the truth or not, and that he will keep the secret of the mission a secret from his friends. He tells Gulliver to make sure he does a good job in the villag's job. Gulliver wonders if the villagers will use magic to escape, but Gulliver assures him that they will not be able to read their language, so they will have to improvise. Gulliver says that the master is an idiot whenever people try to challenge themselves, and he will make fun of them if they try to change their career paths. He says that Gulliver is wasting his money on gym memberships and gym equipment, when he could be using the money to practice magic drills to protect himself. Gulliver is amazed at the intelligence of the boy, who he says is so intelligent that he had no idea that he could learn so much from him. Gulliver praises the boy's taste, which he says could teach him a great deal. The boy says that he still hasn't forgiven the girl for what she has said, but he wonders if she is using the same words that she intersperse in her speeches.
