About This Chapter
In this short scene, we learn that the protagonist's pet is a "yakuza" . The protagonist wakes up in the middle of the night and tells us that he's been sleeping like a log. He's had a lot of bad news in the last two days. He doesn't think that his pet is sleeping well, but he does think that the yakuza is following orders. He tells the protagonist that he promised to buy him some new clothes and pajamas, but now that he thinks about it, he decides that he should take care of the pet. The narrator then tells the audience that he has been shopping for the protagonist in mid-origaoka, the best place to shop in the whole of Japan. He thinks that the place is the best because it's 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and he can't be found out who he really is. He also says that there's no way that he can go outside and look like his old self, even if he has a slim chance of being found out. He asks the protagonist if he always wears black like this, and the protagonist says that he does. He says that his elder brothers have bought him a suit of clothes that suits him, and that he is not interested in fashion. He then asks if they can make
