The Governess tells the Governess that his father has told him that his mother has turned into a "star" after she has left him and his siblings. He says that he wants to believe that he is the son of a star because he has no parents. He wants to be sure that his parents are still alive. He also wants to know why there are so many stars in the sky when there are none in his yard. He tells her that he dropped the drawing that he was going to give her. He asks her to come up to him if she wants to talk to him, but she does not want to do so. She tells him that since he did not ask for permission to draw her, he will be punished.
